01 Services

Jobs at the front door and beyond

Lockouts

House, condo or apartment. The locksmith tries non-destructive entry first and tells you if drilling becomes the only option.

Rekeying

New pins, new key, same hardware. Sensible after a move, a lost key ring, or a contractor who still has a copy.

Lock changes

Swapping worn knobs and levers, or upgrading to a Grade 1 deadbolt. You can supply hardware or buy it on site.

New installs

A deadbolt where there was none, a keyed lock on a garage entry door, a lock on a gate or shed.

Sliders and windows

Sliding glass door latches, secondary foot locks and window catches, the weak spots on many Florida homes.

Mailbox locks

Cluster-box and wall-mounted mailbox cylinders replaced when a key goes missing. Some HOAs handle this themselves; ask first.

02 Choice

Rekey or replace?

If the lock turns smoothly and you like how it looks, rekeying is usually the cheaper route. The cylinder is opened, the pins swapped to match a new key, and every old copy stops working.

Replace when the lock is loose, corroded, cheap, or simply not strong enough. A builder-grade knob set on the only exterior door is a common one. So is a deadbolt that never fully throws because the strike plate was set a quarter inch off.

One more option: keying several locks alike, so the front, side and garage doors share one key. Tell the dispatcher how many locks before the visit.

03 Questions

Residential questions

I rent. Can I rekey without asking the landlord?

Check your lease first. Many leases require permission and a copy of the new key. Ask the landlord in writing, then book the work.

Will a lockout damage my door?

Most residential locks can be opened without damage. If the lock is high-security or broken inside, the locksmith explains the options and the cost before drilling.

Do I need to be home for a rekey?

Yes, or someone you authorize must be. Expect the locksmith to ask for proof that you live there before opening or rekeying anything.

Can a smart lock be fitted to my existing door?

Usually, if the door is prepared for a standard deadbolt. Thick impact doors and unusual backsets can need extra work; mention the door type when you call.
